Association football was created by the British elite. We’ll never take it seriously here, nor should we.

I think it's getting more and more popular. I was surprised at the amount of people from the US who wanted to talk to me about the World Cup this time around. The fact that it was a very good tournament and the US actually held their own no doubt helped

Today is the two year anniversary of my brother dying. Sometimes it’s hard to even remember what our life was like before he passed.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.

tragabigzanda wrote:Sorry wease. As I recall, it was kind of a strained relationship? How's time been to your feelings on that? I'm curious because I've got some vaguely similar stuff going on in my camp.
I don’t know that I’d call our relationship strained. He and our youngest brother had some definite issues to work out which I’m told they did but who knows? He was just never around. It started with the events that created the rift between the other two. After that I guess he figured the rest of the family would take youngest bro’s side (which for the most part we did) and wouldn’t want him around. As it didn’t really involve me at all, I pretty much got over it fairly quickly but there were some wounds opened for sure with other brother. Oddly, I’ve never cried over his passing. Friends and family have died just before and since him and I’ve cried, but not a tear for him. We had a cousin that died less than a week before and I openly wept at our kid’s basketball game when I found out, but nothing for my own brother. That’s what I have a hard time understanding.

His kids right now on the other hand…
