This is how a selfish man would view it. But as a White Knight, he felt that even though he didn't directly benefit on the surface, he helped out a lady in need, making him feel quite good about himself.wease wrote:And his mom back with his dad which he clearly never wanted.dad wrote:THIS.wease wrote:But look what his good intentions got him in the end. €50k down the shitter. Even if he does think his dad wants to change, he's still prioritizing his father's wants over his mother's. And he's doing so explicitly because of another woman with whom he's fucking. I don't think there's any way Albie is prioritizing his mother's wants/needs/thoughts/desires over his own.

Re: HBO: The White Lotus
But we are given clues that the dad actually does want to be a better person throughout the season. Like during that walk on the beach you could really get a sense of his longing. He clearly struggles with sexual addiction and it is hard for him To change but he is trying. And how do we know that the mother wouldn’t also benefit from them getting back together? It isn’t necessarily all about helping his dad. We really do not know much about the mother. Surely she is flawed also.JuanHamm wrote:Hmm, well he was a very naive person so I could see him thinking that way .

Given the one scene we have where we hear the mother, I think we can absolutely assume she's better off without him.tree_ wrote:But we are given clues that the dad actually does want to be a better person throughout the season. His Dad is a serial cheater. I'm sure he does actually feel regretful and I'm sure he felt that way the previous times, too. That doesn't mean he's not going to get bored again eventually and do it again.

Good point. But maybe his son believes he might actually change this time. I believe he will.
