But we are given clues that the dad actually does want to be a better person throughout the season. Like during that walk on the beach you could really get a sense of his longing. He clearly struggles with sexual addiction and it is hard for him To change but he is trying. And how do we know that the mother wouldn’t also benefit from them getting back together? It isn’t necessarily all about helping his dad. We really do not know much about the mother. Surely she is flawed also.

His Dad is a serial cheater. I'm sure he does actually feel regretful and I'm sure he felt that way the previous times, too. That doesn't mean he's not going to get bored again eventually and do it again.
Good point. But maybe his son believes he might actually change this time.
If that's the case, why doesn't he go to bat for his dad before there's the other stuff on the line?
Putting other stuff on the line actually tests his character. He’s feeling him out
Tests who's character? I don't understand what you mean.
the father’s . If he didn’t actually want to be with his mother anymore or if he didn’t sufficiently feel guilty about his past, he wouldn’t have paid the money. Not that amount. Why does he even want to be with the mother? It’s not like she has all the money or some thing. He sincerely misses her
If there’s any point where Dominic really sees and understands how his actions have hurt other people it’s that conversation with his dad in the last episode where he tells him everyone knew he was fucking around on his mom. That was after he paid the 50k so up to that point he was bribing his kid to talk to his estranged wife. It’s not until that conversation that he really starts actually taking responsibility for all of it.

I’m personally of the mind that his ideals will gradually become compromised, eroded, until he’s a slightly different version of his dad and grandad.

I think I liked this season equally to season one. Valentina was my favorite.

It's probably more interesting if one RMer picks another RMer's The White Lotus character. We often aren't the best judges of our own The White Lotus character.

Now watching season 1. A lot funnier than season 2

Maybe people prefer season 2 because it feels darker and more serious than season 1 but I'm really enjoying the more chaotic and comedic tone of season 1. Laughing a lot

That was my impression. I really enjoyed season one more that way. Season two felt more like a mystery/thriller

People keep saying that S2 is a mystery/thriller and I just didn't get that. It's just a drama. And that's okay.

Definitely a thriller vibe in the end. And throughout the entire season you’re wondering who died and whodunnit. But you could say the same about season one it just didn’t have that kind of vibe though

I was far more engaged in the device of "who done it" in S1 than in S2. I'd kinda forgotten about the whole dead body thing in S2, actually. And by the time I remembered it was fairly clear what was going on. Mystery is probably fair, but there wasn't much suspense for me. Certainly not a "thriller" vibe.

But, admittedly, my investment was probably lessened by the fact that it was S2 and we'd just done the same thing in S1. I had no idea going into S2 if there would be a body. As soon as there was, I was like, okay, fine, so it's that again, got it. And moved on. That's more on me than the writing/premise.
