I went and signed up for MUBI yesterday. Last night, I watched the film of the day, since it was something I hadn't heard of and I figured going with their recommended movie is a better test of the site than if I were to start digging through movies I know I want to see in their wider catalog.
It was a 1998 German movie called Short Sharp Shock. I enjoyed it. The story isn't anything you haven't seen before, but it was a playful bit of cinema with some drive. Worth a look, MUBI-ites
