Started White Noise last night, and finished it a few minutes ago.
It's not terrible, but it was weird, which I fully expected.
About to start Heat.

We started this last night. Sometimes we have to watch movies in chunks, and this one we'll likely finish tonight.dad wrote:About to start Heat.
This is one of those movies I'm seeing for the first time, and I have to say...I'm disappointed it's taken me so long to watch it. It's very good. A couple of lulls and/or needless moments, but overall a great flick. Can't wait to finish it.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

its a masterpiece. A did a recent rewatch because im reading the new book that came out, that starts right when the movie finishes but also goes to 1988 and i think it will finish in 2002.dad wrote:We started this last night. Watched Everything Everywhere All at Once last night. Was kind of irritated by the movie about halfway through, but by the end I was actually crying by how poignant, moving it was. Kind of an incredible movie. Whoever wrote it was definitely on drugs. Kind of surprised it got made.

i liked it enough, but it was just too long and eventually i got bored with the idea of the multiple universes and storylines. I think its more of the cool movie everyone wants to love but not an actually good movie.tree_ wrote:Watched Everything Everywhere All at Once last night. okay, we finished it this evening. i totally get what you mean, and i completely expected more from the ending, and watching it the way we did...i guess i get what i deserve. i still enjoyed it. the last big action sequence before they went their separate ways was wild and well done.tragabigzanda wrote:Do not open until after you're done watching:dad wrote:We started this last night. Glad you liked it. You are 1 for 2 in your assessment of widely recognized masterpieces

Re: What movies are you watching?
it's been a few days since i made those comments about The Godfather, and I'm willing to admit I went into that one with high expectations, and that's on me. I went into Heat with zero expectations, and I enjoyed it. Go figure.Jorge wrote:Glad you liked it. You are 1 for 2 in your assessment of widely recognized masterpieces
I'm going to take some time--who knows how long--and try to watch The Godfather again.

Re: What movies are you watching?
that's another one of those that my wife and I have never seen, but it's on our list. It's also one of those that I've heard glowing reviews of and will go in with no expectations.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:What do you think about Goodfellas, dad?
I'll definitely post about it when we do get to it.
