streamed album for wife last night.

On her first listen.

She felt that sleeping by myself sounded desperate and lame... Felt the lyrics were describing some wimp guy who stays with someone who cheats. I lol'd
She didn't like Infallible.. She felt it was too happy in the middle.. I chalk this up to one time listening..
She completely hated My Fathers Son.... throw it out were her words.... she was confused by the happy circus music in the middle.
She said her favorite track was let the records play.... I was like really? shes said i like bluesy stuff...... lol
mind your manners - she said controlled chaos..

I find it interesting to hear opinions on the album from someone who is a very casual pj fan.. More of a eddie vedder into the wild fan...
We both sat in the same conditions and listened and both heard two different albums for the most part. Is that a good thing?
She also loved backspacer on first listen... I feel the rage from everyone after saying that. LOL

Backspacer was a good album. Don't let these farts distort the truth from you.

My wife is permanent face palm when I talk about Pearl Jam.

She does like a few older songs, and the most recent she liked was "You Are"

I haven't even approached her with any of these new songs because I know she'll about it.

Infallible is a confusing song.

It kind of gets "Marker'd" between the verses and chorus, but the contrast isn't nearly as stark. I think MITS suffers much more from the shift in tone than Infallible does. And as the song goes on, the "brighter" sound (describing music is not a strength of mine) of the chorus gradually starts to feel more appropriate. But I can't really tell yet whether it gets all the way there for me. I think there are also some moments in the second half of the song where, just as I feel I'm settling into it, there's a little shift in tone and I'm thrown once again.

That isn't a bad thing. I'm just not yet sure if it's a good thing, or if it just is what it is.

Sirens is #5 in the iTunes chart, and was #3 yesterday. It's up there with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.

Is it really getting popular? The single was released a good couple of weeks ago, so I don't think this is just frontloaded sales caused by fans.

Musically it's spectacular. And though Eddie certainly doesn't ruin it (that would be nearly impossible), the "ah-ah-ah-ah" at the end are the most affecting and effective vocals in there. Wish they'd let it be mostly an instrumental piece, have Eddie throw out just one or two strange, haunting lines, and then go into the ah-ah-ah-ahs through the end.

Taking my non-PJ Fan wife to her first Pearl Jam show on Friday. The only songs from the new album she wants to hear are Sirens any LTRP...

Also, to get her to go I had to agree to go to Justin Timberlake in December (I pretended this would be torture but I think I'm actually looking forward to it).

That's kinda how I felt about going to Bruno Mars with my wife but ultimately it was... boring. Pop shows just feel so contrived, so rehearsed. There is feeling of being in the moment you can get at a rock show that isn't there, no matter how talented the pop performer. It feels like every joke, line and dance step are pre planned.
