They offer the lowest form of critique or appreciation, zero insight or engagement beyond the most surface level commentary, consistently positioning themselves above the work and "the masses." Critique driven by snark. I find them unbearable.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Meh. They always give valid reasons for their opinions as far as I’ve seen. If they like a movie they will praise it even if it’s popular. They loved top gun maverick for instance. I don’t find them snobby or unbearable. Just seem like normal funny dudes I’d hang out with with valid opinions I sometimes agree with.Jorge wrote:They offer the lowest form of critique or appreciation, zero insight or engagement beyond the most surface level commentary, consistently positioning themselves above the work and "the masses." The Martian. It was good I guess. I really like the premise. Those cam confession bits though with the grandpa jokes took me out of it. Pretty goofy but my wife laughed at a couple of them so I'm probably just being an asshole.

I also didn’t like the humor but that’s just the character I guess. I thought that movie was OK. I have trouble ever really liking Ridley Scott moviesbada wrote:The Martian. It was good I guess. Big Fish probably does have the most emotional depth and meaning of a Tim Burton

The Menu and Triangle of Sadness made for a great 1-2 combo.

I only watch "Half in the bag"s and "re-views" when they're not in character, just discussing moviesVinylGuy wrote:there is a guy who makes one dressed as a blockbuster clerk and he talks with his dog...its mostly marvel stuff.

Knives Out - About as good on second viewing. This deserves all it's acclaim.
E.T. - I know I saw pieces of this as a child, but I'm not sure I ever saw the whole thing. Pretty typical Spielberg. Endearing, full of magic and wonder. I loved every second.

your opinion of them is worse--more snarky, unfair--than any opinion they have on moviesJorge wrote:They are one step above The Nostalgia Critic
