i can see how burt would grate against a show whose main protagonist is an autodidact, contemptuous of the masses, and draws on some of the worst philosophers & philosophic traditions to form a "idiosyncratically" homespun worldview

My only real problem with S2 is the plot structure. There’s an event halfway through that serves as a reset of the chessboard and they should’ve just started the plot from there (or truncated episodes 1-3 into a single pilot episode)

Same problem with Season 1.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. Hard disagree. Vaughn is great when he does dramatic. There’s a plucky pathos to him that’s so unique. He looks almost insane at times.

If we’re talking who got shafted on the writing, I’d say that’s more Taylor Kitsch

The writing all around is lacking. But Rachel and Colin are fucking great at their jobs, so you barely notice.

It hurts VV the most, though. And he deserves all the credit in the world for trying to make choices and overcome all his obstacles. He just doesn't quite clear the bar.

Kitsch isn't as good an actor as Vaughn. And the show doesn't ask him to carry as much. So he manages to pull off the sleight of hand better than Vince.
