Someone said it earlier, but that song (I don't mind it) will suck the life out of a show. If they have to do it at all, has got to be part of a 2nd set opening sequence where they play a handful of slow shit.Dugg wrote:Anyone here post at the Pit? What does she normally listen to? Admittedly I liked The Fixer the first time I heard it, but yeah the lyrics are not so good. Seems to go over well live though from what I've seen.BurtReynolds wrote:I never recovered from my girlfriend laughing at me over The Fixer, despite my efforts to hide it from her. Would I be right in thinking that this is the most versatile set of songs since No Code?

Yeah, that's definitely where it needs to go, but I'm so tired of the acoustic interludes to start encores. It would be different if more songs were mixed in, but I have to believe that the only ones that will be in the rotation will be Just Breathe, The End, and now Future Days. Eddie could make that portion of shows far more interesting if he wanted to, but I guess we kind of know by now that he doesn't really want to.jimmy mac wrote:Someone said it earlier, but that song (I don't mind it) will suck the life out of a show. Unrelated, but I think Pendulum could be a killer show-opener.

Agree, first time I heard Pendulum it had opener written all over it. Of the ones I've seen personally, I love the slow burning openers a la Hard To Imagine and/or Of The GirlJaeti wrote:Yeah, that's definitely where it needs to go, but I'm so tired of the acoustic interludes to start encores. I was at Wrigley and I don't think at all it sucked the life out of the show. I'm actually a minority here in that I like the song, but at Wrigley no one had heard it but it got a strong reaction I thought. That is really hard to do in a stadium, but I think anytime you've something that has a sing songy melody using his deep register, and it's quite enough to put a little extra emphasis on his voice, people pay attention in the live setting. It held everyone's attention where I was at and got a good applause.jimmy mac wrote:Someone said it earlier, but that song (I don't mind it) will suck the life out of a show. I was at Wrigley as well, and consider the Future Days- Mother opening to the encore to be possibly the low point of the thirty or so shows I've seen. I would've rather sat through Ed's 19 minute speech before Last Kiss at Camden I 2006 again. Thankfully Crown of Thorns followed it and was majestic.Tuolumne wrote:I was at Wrigley and I don't think at all it sucked the life out of the show. The crowd was completely dead for that entire song from where I was at Wrigley. No one was listening. Granted, I don't think that was entirely due to the song; people had been there for 6 or 7 hours, it was 1:30 in the morning or whatever it was, it was a song no one had heard before. But the song didn't help matters.

Yeah, but it was a brand new song that no one had ever heard before, so of course it was gonna garner hyper attention and applause. After hearing on an album, or for a tour, it'll be a different story. I hope you're right thoughTuolumne wrote:I was at Wrigley and I don't think at all it sucked the life out of the show. It certainly can't be the trainwreck it was last time if they play it live again. It's nice enough on the record, but for reasons that I don't think can be replicated on stage.

Not to mention, by the time it was played at Wrigley, a very specific subsection of fans were there to appreciate. Most of whom were there to simply say "II STAYED AT THE WRIGLEY SHOW UNTIL 2 IN THE MORNING!" and were just excited they got to add "Saw Debut of : Lightning Bolt and Future Days" Wrigley 13 to their message board sig.

They should've got Sigur Ros's string quartet on that song.

They were just thinking about how cool "Future Days" was gonna look written on the back of the Setlist Shirt they were gonna race outside to buy when the show ended so they could wear it while getting their 7 different Wrigley posters framed.@SkitchP wrote:Not to mention, by the time it was played at Wrigley, a very specific subsection of fans were there to appreciate.
