meh.
I recall feeling the same.
I did like that Luke Wilson was the same affable dude he is in almost every movie.

That's about it though.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Not sure if Joe will feel vindicated by this because I didn't hate it but I did find Women Talking kind of underwhelming and frustrating. I'd be interested in reading the novel because the story is very compelling and my problems with it, I think, were all with Sarah Polley's directing (the annoyingly unclear way the group debate scenes are shot, the murky geography of the barn where they spend 90% of the movie, the placeless production design, the film's ugly desaturated look) and screenplay (its lack of specificity wrt the Mennonite community; the lack of clarity in the characters' relationship to each other; characters feeling more like ideological mouthpieces than real characters, often employing language that feels too contemporary and plugged-in to current feminist discourse to be a group of illiterate, socially isolated people).

I'm not super familiar with Sarah Polley like other RMers - I thought Take This Waltz was good - but I found this very disappointing. It's the kind of movie you can tell everybody involved in felt very passionately about, but to me the execution was fumbled despite some good scenes and performances. I liked the stories about the horses

So, The Fabelmans. I had trepidation about Dano in this role going in, and it was pretty much as suspected unfortunately. A lot of the scenes with the parents interacting felt for lack of a better term over-dramatized. If it were just a few I could overlook it, but there was enough to hurt the tone and take me out of the scenes.

But...I pretty much loved everything else. Anytime Sam was doing something with the camera I couldn't keep a smile off my face. Everything with his sisters was great too. I thought LaBelle was incredible, I couldn't take my eyes off him.
