Power button on cell phone stopped working

Post by knee tunes »

The power button on my pixel 6 suddenly stopped working. So I set the screen not to time out until 30 minutes while I downloaded all the phone updates, deleted recently installed apps, tried to download a "volume to power button" app but it wasn't working. I was researching/trying shit for close to 2 hours when I came across a reddit post that said "just bang the power button off the edge of a table a few times" .
Guess what?...
....power button works now...

There’s a saying in the troubleshooting world, which is meant to remind to always start with the easiest and most obvious, which is a skill and harder than it sounds.

I enjoy the same model phone (pro version) and there is no physical power button, which is just amazing if things freeze up. The Bluetooth functionality is also terrible. It'll randomly drop my headset and default to speaker even though the icon indicates Bluetooth is connected.

My Samsung didn't have the Bluetooth issues, but dedicated power buttons might be going away in general. Phone manufacturers hate their customers in general, but Apple is very clear in the ways they hate you.
