Im more pissed that the "genius" Joe Maddon got away with the like 6 retarded things he did tonight than that the Sox lost.

What was the reasoning behind not walking Pedroia? First base open, one out. That's a pretty easy call. To neither walk Pedroia nor play the infield in was basically handing the Red Sox the tying run in the ninth there.

Why in the hell would he give up the dh when he had fuld on the bench to go into rf? Then the whole pitching to pedroia with the infield back up one in the 9th in a must win game. That might have been the most poorly managed game I've ever seen, but because he puts his arm around the sports writers hes a genius. He's Ozzie guillen with glasses if you ask me.

He sacrificed the DH because the other option was sliding Delmon Young into Myers spot. But if he did that Young would now be the 9th guy up and as it stood and probably wouldn't see another at bat. Maddon couldn't afford to push potential game tying hitters to the back of the lineup. It made sense.

Why couldn't he have put fuld in instead of young, he put fuld in the next inning. I don't think saving fuld as a pinch runner is worth giving up the dh.

Because ultimately i think he knew that with Lobaton and Fuld still available the game would have to likely go to the 14th or so inning to have to worry about needing a 3rd pinch hitter for that pitcher spot.

If they had lost (which looked likely as soon as Rodney started pitching to Pedroia, hell as soon as Rodney started pitching it looked bad. He couldn't get a good ball over the plate.), that move would have been indefensible. Lobaton homers and it's an afterthought. Lucky lucky.
