Three Billboards is fine. It's not brilliant but it certainly isn't pandering tripe.

Banshees is way better, though.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople. It was sweet. I had to pause the movie a couple times I was laughing so hard.

Watching The Last Stand

A bit like yesterday’s film, in that I liked it 9-10 years ago, but the general public reviews and scores for it are not great.

It was still good. A solid action film.

Didn’t like it. Felt like style over substance. Poor acting and direction, even Gosling is weirdly unanimated throughout. Like a duller version of his Drive-role.

I'd say I like OGF even better than Drive. Also personally "style over substance" is not a critique I really respond to. Style for its own sake has value, and it can be the substance (although I don't think that's what's happening in OGF)

Style has its own value. A great movie needs style. What I mean by style over substance, is that in this particular movie, the end result suffers from the choices made, often stylistic choices. It’s dull and still, when it needs action and words. When it has action, it feels uninspired, and unrewarding.

That seems to be the consensus but I never agreed. I think it's a striking and super compelling movie throughout

The Neon Demon is probably better overall. Really want Winding Refn to come back to making movies

I do usually like Winding Refn movies. Not seen The Neon Demon, but I own it, and it’s on the list for 2016.

Will watch Red Sonja and Raw Deal. Both possibly for the first time. Already started Red Sonja.

This film looks great. Makeup, landscapes, clothing, it’s all there.

Read that Arnold agreed to do a cameo as a favor, but they kept finding excuses for filming more of him. Apparently he hates this movie.

It’s campy fun, but also had some terrible acting, and is a bit boring at times. Frankly, it needed a lot more Arnold.

Finished. Amateurish at times, yet so beautiful. Both boring and fun. Overall I enjoyed it.
