For some reason, I thought you were anti-Chiefs. I apologize, buddy.
I think they are legit, I am just more partial to Cincy.
But at the end of the day, I am already onto hockey and basketball season.
No worries, dude. I'm sorry for assuming. I just thought I remembered you saying directly that you didn't like the Chiefs before. Which is totally fair. But I apologize for misremembering.
For the record, I love seeing Cincy have this run right now. And my favorite player in the entire NFL not named Mahomes (ask any of my friends who are sick of me talking about him) is Ja'Marr Chase. So...
Yeah, the chop is stupid. I'm on record about how much I hate it. Even as a ten year old at my very first game, I had issues with it. I want it gone forever.
But this team, man. Mahomes. Kelce. Bolton. Jones. Sneed. Jet. This coaching staff? I adore all of it. Ignorant fans are gonna ignorant fan. The organization has been very up front and honest about the outreach and work it does with indigenous peoples and communities. It's not enough. But it's something. And I applaud them for even the bare minimum effort. It's something other organizations haven't done. But still. That's no excuse.
My love isn't for the iconography and appropriation but for the the people, the team, the city, and the outreach.
Honestly, I'm a big fan of changing the team name and mascot. Let's not mascot people at all, please. Call them the KC wolves (since that's our mascot) or the KC Smoke or the KC Fire or whatever... hell, KCFC (KC Football Club) is fine by me. I don't give a shit. I just love Patrick Mahomes so much. The man is an unreal talent, an unreal player. I wish everyone could just stop and truly appreciate how awesome he is and how lucky we are to have him.
