Actually, scratch Borat 2--the original Borat in 2006 also got a nomination because it was adapted from the character from the TV show. But Toy Story 3 still fits the same bill.

And I'd say that Rian Johnson didn't understand what was compelling about the first movie, so the sequel just ends up being very superficial with no guts or heart or hunanity
