Hmmm.... interesting. For those of you that aren't feeling it, how many played the game?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I agree that Big Head's talk show was the highlight for me. With the Walking Dead, I always wanted more CDC scenes / government conspiracies / backstory.

Most zombie movies/shows that I've seen (first few seasons of Walking Dead, NOtLD, even Shaun of the Dead), you're usually thrown into the world through the eyes of an everyday Joe who has to watch the world fall apart around them for apparently no reason; it's chaos and they've got to learn the rules in order to survive. It can be done well or done poorly, but it's been done (FWIW, I think the Joel/Sarah stuff in the premiere was fine--looked great, but hit tons of familiar beats). What's been done well in the preludes is that you've got people who already have the knowledge to understand fully what's going on, so they SNAP into awareness and realize the terror of the situation even before the chaos starts. That type of dread just hits me harder, man.

I preferred the second episode's cold open to the premiere's. Something about that woman's quiet realization and panic.

I hated last episode´s dialogue between the three of them. I kinda knew what they were going to say or do, and thats mostly because feels we already saw this story so many times..

I dont like the kids´s witty attitude or the guy´s weary feel at this point.

Sounds like you have issues with the genre more so than this show in particular. It's an adaptation of a video game that was in development before The Walking Dead TV show even premiered. I'm not sure it was ever promised to be an innovative or wholly original story.

I'd argue the material transcends those tropes and asks some really interesting questions with very memorable characters, but your mileage may vary.

That is exactly what Frank Darabont wanted to do originally.

well, yeah i already stated that im pretty bored what they are offering in terms of an apocalypse, a virus, zombies, or whataver. I do feel this one might look a little bit better than TWD, but im actually not sure is better than S1 of that show.

Still, these characters so far are cartoonish at best. The little girl cracking jokes and being all wise, the weary guy , the woman who believes and die...their interactions could have happened in other shows or movies from the last years.

Im only pointing this out because i keep reading and hearing, man this one is good, man this one is actually a drama about the human condition, its fierce and scary...

well, not to me so far.

I’m just waiting for the “other humans are the real danger” moment so we’re fully watching another Walking Dead.

I've played both the original and sequel multiple times. Prob too early to judge but the games are hands-down better for me at this point. Really a testament to how well the games were acted/produced. I always called it more of an 'experience' than a game even though the story is nothing revelatory here.

Agree though with those who loved Ep 2's opening--more of that emotion/tension please. I also like how the music from the game is peppered effectively through certain scenes while they're traveling from point a to b, etc.

Seems like we’re inching closer to gamer fan service than prestige television.

Yeah thought that's where they were headed after the Season one finale, which was great.
