Birds in Hell wrote:This album's OK, I guess. Like all of the post-Yield records, I'll never listen to the whole thing.

It's an improvement on Backspacer in that it has one legitimately excellent song that I keep wanting to return to (My Father's Son) and a handful of really good ones that I'll probably feel like listening to occasionally and will never mind hearing in a live set (Getaway, Mind Your Manners, Pendulum).

It's very poorly sequenced however and the missteps are arguably worse here than those on any of their previous records. It certainly doesn't inspire any great confidence in the future of the band.
What do you call missteps?

I would agree with this. There will still be songs like Sirens around, but I think there will be more songs like Infallible (musically) and Pendulum. I'd expect the ratio to go in a slightly more experimental direction.

But this is all for the 11th album speculation thread that harmless will soon be making his bitch.

I posted this in the Pendulum thread

Pendulum is incredible

Last night I watched the movie Gravity. It was amazing. I went home and watched the trailer for Gravity on mute, with Pendulum playing from the very beginning. It's amazing.

If any of you are interested in doing this I highly recommend it, it provides some amazing imagery for Pendulum. This song would be amazing on a soundtrack.

Ok, so start Pendulum at the exact same time the trailer starts, have your headphones on, and watch the magic. The lyrics even go well with it. The song is too long for the trailer, so just rewind and watch from around the middle of the trailer again along with the end of the song.

Trust me. Do this guys! It's works amazingly well with it.

The mental image of Jerry Garcia's pro bono lawyer is comical. We might need a cartoon.

I agree it is a step up from Backspacer and prob even ST....You have to take into account that this is their 10th Studio album...Not many bands have 5 good records let alone 8-10....and now there is only one direction for this band to go in...further into the darkness  ...............sorry i like dark moody songs, albums....
It's certainly not better than S/T for me.

While that album had some clunkers, the good songs were still really good (and there was quite a few of them).

I can also recommend one of the last emotional scenes with the sound of Sirens, and the end scene (no spoiler here) is linked to LB in more than one way. Of course, all the other songs fit to this movie as well. But to be honest, even the daily news is all very Lightning Bolt related to me at this moment. ;)

The IMDB rating of this movie is totally deserved, I think.

Speaking of, we may need to delete the drawings of Ed thread before a legal hadouken is leveled at this message board with all the force and ferocity of a monstrous surfing wave.

Not to mention that I might not want to be wearing this pair of boots I've got on when the legal team shows up. If you know what I mean...
