Im used to the chorus and I think eds delivery across the entire board sounds great. I really enjoy the structure of the song too.

Also it sounds more like a statement in a conversation than lyrical... It kinda reminds me of the verses in In Hiding like that, and I've never liked those either.

Not trying to shit on it, just attempting to articulate why I don't like it. I don't know that its working though.
never apologize for your opinion when you're backing it up.

And I'm gonna go ahead and defend those lyrics. They're not overly complex, but the idea behind them is very important, and is one of the core themes running through the record--that while the world may be awful, it is fixable, provided we stop making excuses for why we aren't going ahead and starting that project.
It's really an Eddie trope that goes all the way back to Leash. A "get more flies with honey" kind of thing, where the feeling is that it's better to at least pull people in with something uplifiting, whether that's "I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side" or the chorus here.

There's not all that much really positive in the lyrical content of this song, it's just delivered in a way that feels uplifting. The message is still ... We have to at least start to admit we're not perfect before we go anywhere.

It also has a certain sound I find easier to accept from pearl jam than the subsequent albums.

I am mine, lbc and thumbing my way bore the shit out of me though. And green disease and save you are meh.
Riot act has maybe one, tops.

Actually (slightly anal but this is an important distinction in the context of the song/record) infallible doesn't mean you think you are perfect. It means you think you are never wrong. In this case it is realizing that we are wrong thinking that these problems aren't our problems, wrong thinking we can wait to deal with them, or wrong thinking we are powerless to do something about them.

Yeah, I don't like leash either, at least I'm consistent.

I think there's a naive wide eyed let's save the world/people have the power quality I get from them that makes my cold blackened heart chuckle mockingly.

5 stars on riot act - can't keep, all or none, help help, maybe cropduster.

They're all songs that make me sit back and go 'Aaahhhhh this is why they're my favourite band'

I don't think there's any on st unless I can count CC, if sos wasn't an abomination and sounded like the demo, it could have been, but alas.. LB could have SbM (I can't explain it) and pendulum.

it's also, oddly enough, the more politically naive position.

I really like the ending, how it goes back to the opening lines of the song.

Nobody could have hated the song more than me yesterday. But somehow, someway, it happened. The song clicked for me.

I went out and took a break from all the songs. I went to the movies and watched Gravity. On the ride home I popped on Infallible. And it just hit me. This song is very much like Marker In The Sand, in that the verses and chorus are like 2 different songs. They do this throughout many songs in the catalogue. They refuse to make something thats easy to digest. And that's part of these songs charm. The contrast. And once I accepted that, I just let the song take over

I can say I've never quite heard a song like Infallible. They really did create something unique.

And I can't help but feel the chills during that solo with the vocal harmony backing it up. Here's yet another song that went from hate to love. Fucking Pearl Jam did it again.

this song is pretty cool. the music in the verses is awesome. some of it reminds me of old school nintendo.

i agree it is like 2 different songs. im not sure what ed is going for during the chorus. his vocals almost have an r&b feel.

Ed loves r&b and motown, and it's started to show over the last few albums.

This song is fucking top drawer when you're drunk.

Totally. Matt proves he's still got that in him on this album.

Absolutely. It won't be motown if they don't.
