I think there's reason to hope the next album will be better again.

I dont see LB as much of a departure from BS, so I do kinda see them taking a different direction on their next album, as they dont generally stick with one approach for more than two albums.

I could be horribly horribly wrong.

Is this bringing up some dark memories of a time when you were sued by eddie vedder? You can tell us, this is a safe place.

Yeah but he doesn't have a hatchet or a court summons, so it was probably misapplied there.

This is still growing in my appreciation. I'm at the point of honing in on the lyrics now, and they're good.

It reminds me a bit of Split Enz.
I Got You also has dark verses and an uplifting/happy chorus.

They are maybe his best political lyrics, probably excepting insignificance, but that is also written more obliquely.
