I didn't see the game. Lots of speculation they make a trade for a big man or wing. I don't think that could hurt given the injuries.elliseamos wrote:Yes, no Smart, Horford, or Brown. The way they lost is on Tatum, but I don't understand why they didn't take a timeout to draw up a plan for the last shot.Coach wrote:Glad he's back. Re: NBA Thread
In an appearance on 97.5 “The Fanatic” in Philadelphia, Morey said that Embiid was “completely hosed once again” and blamed the “shameless Boston media” for being “way over-represented” in the all-star starter selection process.
Morey’s unfounded claim that the Boston media voting kept Embiid out becomes even more questionable when considering that Celtics star Jaylen Brown was notably snubbed out of the starting lineup as well in favor of Brooklyn’s Irving.
Good story, anything to fuel divisional rivalries.

Or it could be that there are four guys for three spots and one had to get squeezed.

God damn do I love hearing Kevin Calabro’s voice.
Also the Blazers are wearing home whites tonight which really threw me off.

Has the Association made an official change in that road teams now wear white? Or is it just happening more often but not the official policy?

Their deal with Nike allows the home team to have any color. The road team will have a contrasting color. Way too many jersey options these days, but oh well.Bammer wrote:Has the Association made an official change in that road teams now wear white? I will be devastated if OG Anunoby gets traded, I love that guy so much. But 3 first round picks? Yes, please.

It's such an absurd asking price. I could see an expiring plus two lottery protected first rounders, but even then I would pause.

Asking prices in general are completely absurd the days. I wonder if we're about to see a resetting of trade value across the league over the next couple of years. It seems like sellers just want draft capital and buyers don't want to part with anybody that has current value which sounds like it would facilitate trades but seems to have had the opposite effect. I think for buyers the bigger reluctance to give up picks for marginal players isn't about the pick itself but for the fact that if a star or near-star ever comes available you need every pick you can get to try to trade for them.Monkey_Driven wrote:It's such an absurd asking price. Re: NBA Thread
OG is a pretty incredible defender. A big, strong wing that can hit 3s and terrorize the opponent's best player. He's still only 25 and relatively cheap. If the Raptors did trade him, they would probably spend the next 3-4 years looking for another OG in order to be a championship contender.
Massai is in the driver's seat because I think they would be perfectly happy keeping him (same with Gary Trent Jr and FVV). But if teams want to start a bidding war, then by all means, bid away!

Re: NBA Thread
It seems like the Anthony Davis and PG13 trades kickstarted this "trade a superstar for a gazillion picks" trend that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Will it matter though if everyone eventually does it (ex. Wolves potentially trading KAT for picks to recoup lost draft stock from the Gobert trade)? They just won't owe their own picks.4/5 wrote:Asking prices in general are completely absurd the days. Still the basketball #goat in my mind. And that's high praise from a Boston fan.
