Usually anywhere from 1 to 2 notches. It’s crazy how different it can be depending on how the beans are roasted.

Yeah I'm also curious to see if the roast date of different bags of the same beans makes a significant difference.

Just from yesterday to today, the same beans and same grind setting yielded slightly different espresso. Yesterday the pressure meter indicated ideal pressure for the first 10 seconds or so, then it slowly tapered down to nothing as the discharge sputtered and spewed a bit. Today is it was much more consistent, maintaining a steady ideal pressure until nearly the end. The only difference was that today it underdosed on the first push a bit, then it corrected it by a hair.

Love this thing.

that's very similar to ours.

pro tip: you can buy the generic brand cleaning tablets and water filters from amazon. they're way cheaper. the descaler, however, i think you still have to buy the breville brand.

Imagine your grill, but for coffee
The thing is, my grill gets hot and cooks food. That’s kinda the extent of my knowledge about it.

Twice this morning, my fucking filter has slid down into the carafe. Wtf?

Maybe I need to pick up more water softener?

No coffee today bc I couldn’t get to the grocery store for more beans due to weather. Man was I in a mood all day.

Got to the grocery this afternoon. Thinking about having an 8pm coffee just to set things right.

Over the weekend, I accidentally cracked the carafe used with my coffee maker. I ordered a replacement, and while I'm waiting for it to arrive I've been using the coffee maker my wife uses. She uses a separate one because she drinks decaf.

I've been brewing hers first. This morning, she slept in a little, which started to push back the time I'd get mine started. I was eager for a cup so I found a hack using two mugs and a paper towel.

The concept is basically like a french press. It came out great.

Desperate times.

I am almost always an iced coffee person but today, this afternoon, it just felt cold enough for a nice regular, warm cup of Joe.

Always have had a quiet contempt for non-coffee drinkers but I might become one of them. Caught my kid's stomach fllu last week and spent a few days too sick to think about having coffee, and now I really dont have the desire for it in the morning. I've been having mild palpitations over the past few months and between quitting drinking for the most part a couple months ago and this past week without coffee, I'm noticing a significant improvement. The real test will be tomorrow when I go back to work.
