It's not "very game of thrones" it's actually exactly game of thrones, like so much do that it's distracting.

If that album wasn't the end of Pearl Jam, nothing will be. Zombie Ed will be doing jump splits and warbling the same old nonsense post-apocalypse.

I haven’t seen this but I get the point and the SNL Mario Kart thing was pretty great

Looking forward to tonight's episode. It's nice to have a show on at 9 on a Sunday to look forward to.

I’m still digging the show but it feels like it grinds to a halt whenever they’re replicating sequences from the game. I can’t quite put my finger on why it bothers me. I found myself leaning forward during the Kansas City group scenes. The rest of the time, I’m just nodding, in my head going, “Yep; that’s just like the game. They nailed it.” and not totally engaged in what’s going on. Maybe it’s like looking at the best paint by numbers art you’ve ever seen next to something original. The paint by numbers can’t quite compare.

That scene at the end in the high rise room was magic, thought.

I’m starting to have the opposite experience as Ensign, with the emotional resonance of Joel and Ellie’s relationship hitting me in new ways that weren’t there in the game. The only parts that were boring to me were all with the Kansas City free folk, which felt as hollow and dumb as Walking Dead.
100% this. Giving Joel and Ellie dialogue and some room to interact was sorely missing in Ep2 and I assume, having not played the game, is going to set up some serious tears in the near future.

And the only people Kathleen inspires fear in are local managers.

never played the game but this so far has been playing out like any number of other apocalyptic movies involving infection/spores etc.

the episode with bill and frank was very pretty enthralling

Yeah, episode four felt way too familiar and I never played the game.

The show, I think, is still good enough - I am still in.

Just saw Episode 5 releases on Friday to avoid the Super Bowl hysteria. I think that's smart. It seems like last night's episode was just the first half of the Kansas City story arc.

It also shows that producers don't need to fear alienating viewers in order to tell LGBT stories. It's HBOMax, not Newsmax.
