Just... absolutely fucking bizarre, and transparently made to retain the rights to the character. But I couldn't stop watching.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Because he hasn’t done anything of relevance for almost 30 years, and his womanizing ways have fallen completely out of fashion.

my guess is most feel that the significant work he did as an actor, writer, director and producer have cemented his place in film history. i'd forgotten about the charge that he'd groomed and had sex with a fourteen year old girl. don't know how he wasn't more severely criticized. then again, how do you cancel a guy who wasn't done a movie in seven years or a television show in six?
