I haven't loved this show (aside from ep. 3) so far. But I'll keep watching. I'm not a huge fan of the girl playing Ellie. And that woman leader in KC wasn't great casting either, IMO.

It’s honestly starting to piss me off, the praise this show gets.
Joel picking off zombies on top of Ellie from hundreds of yards away like he’s American Sniper was ridiculous.

Yeah, and no offence to overweight people (I can be one myself sometimes), but with such limited resources available in this dystopian world, for the sake of realism they should consider body weight when casting. That KC leader just didn't look or act real to me.

The same scene featured a giant, fungus behemoth with superhuman strength and marksmanship is what you find unrealistic. Maybe it's just not a show for you?spike wrote:It’s honestly starting to piss me off, the praise this show gets.

Yeah, that's not fair, MD. They at least explain the rules in their world; how fungi can take over human bodies like that. They never explained how Joel became the world's deadliest sniper.spike wrote:Fungi are weird, man. **no spoilers plz, havent played the game**
Ya'll are crazy for hating on what Pedro and Bella have done here. Yes, I admit Pedro sounds like Mal from Firefly a bit too often, but there is a soft brilliance in how he is letting these brief and beautiful glimpses of the remnants of humanity's soul ('the last of us') build him back culminating in what I assume will be the ultimate sacrifice for Ellie as a form of redemption because he was never given the chance with his own child. From a narrative standpoint that evolution only matters if you grow to love the characters as they carry us through the journey with them, you discover them as they discover themselves and each other.

Re: HBO: The Last of Us
Yeah, they aren't bad. They're good, him better, but the performances feel like they're just imitating the ones from the game. And I simply prefer the source material, which is sufficiently cinematic already. At least this Joel looks like the video game one.Bi_3 wrote:**no spoilers plz, havent played the game**

His brother was in the army and it's not a stretch to think that Tommy also taught Joel shooting skills. He also wasn't THAT far from the action unfolding below him.tree_ wrote:Yeah, that's not fair, MD. They at least explain the rules in their world; how fungi can take over human bodies like that. Dude, the bullets were wizzing by, inches from her head. And he kill shot every one of his targets first try. Go back and watch the sequence again; it’s not even cool because it’s so OTT.Monkey_Driven wrote:His brother was in the army and it's not a stretch to think that Tommy also taught Joel shooting skills. They also failed to explain how Joel knew how to make coffee.
You've made your point clear you don't like it, now maybe go make it elsewhere.

Jeez. Well, I imagine it's much easier to learn to make coffee than to be an elite marksman. There's nothing wrong with criticizing a show, dude. Maybe go tell people to post elsewhere, elsewhere!Bi_3 wrote:They also failed to explain how Joel knew how to make coffee.
