Resurrected my old Audible account. No longer a subscriber but I've got two books in the library I never got around to. Kinda wondering if I should renew after I get through these. Seems expensive, but so convenient.

From that Murakami collection, "Samsa in Love" is a standout. A sequel of sorts to The Metamorphosis where Samsa, a bug in this narrative, suddenly wakes up as a human. The reoccurring fear of birds is an especially nice touch.

pulphead was such a big deal. lost track of sullivan for so long, then an article he wrote in the last six months came across my desk.

I reckon I could probably get a steady diet of listening going through June or July before I have to fork over the bucks.

My podcast queue is too long and I'm too far behind to ever be able to consider audiobooks. I need that listening time for my regular shows.

I did, however, buy an e-reader in December and it's pretty much the only way I've read anything since. Just library books downloaded through the Libby app and sent to my Kindle

Same same to everything above--I've been more or less e-reader exclusive for the past 5 years, and I don't think I could focus on an audiobook like I focus on reading--at least with podcasts, I can let my mind wander and not worry about missing anything.

It is an interesting read. Feels longer than 120 some odd pages. I did like it but I'm not sure I'm fully getting it.

I think that's fair. I think for me it was a lot about atmosphere, which is excellent in all three parts.

I loved the final tape, though. Felt like reading a David Lynch movie in the best way.

Oh, yeah, the atmosphere is great.

Pretty entertaining. All books should be this short.

Reid, there’s an app called Libby that connects with your library account and lets you check out audiobooks and ebooks via the app interface - it’s just as simple as using audible or kindle with the obvious benefit of being free. I’ve been using it a lot lately.

I like audiobooks for most nonfiction, but I like reading fiction in my own voice and at my own pace so they don’t work for that.

Libby is great. You may have to wait a bit for some titles, but the cost is worth it…free.

I just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Fuck that was good.

man, I started that one but did not finish. Seemed like a good read. I just drifted away from it.

I just loved those characters from the beginning, and eventually loved Sam, Sadie, and Marx through each other's eyes. Everything that happened to them felt like it was happening to me.

I started this over about a week ago and finished it this evening. I liked it. I just felt like she kept telling the same story over and over. No need to go almost 400 pages to do that.
