First 2014 movie.

It’s certainly a rewatch, but at least I’ve only seen the extended edition in recent years. This is the cinema version.

Not a great movie by any stretch, but it does have a lot of flair and dramatics, and I’m generally partial to sff movies.
Cool it with all these hot takes.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Starting 2014 with some movies I’m going to watch, but have rated fairly poorly before. Like The Hobbit, at least it’s quite a spectacle.

22 Jump Street

Not as good as the original, but does have some funny moments.

Jorge wrote:Had a great time with Bodies Bodies Bodies. I thought it was going to actually attempt to be a horror movie but it's a straight-up comedy with some clever satire. Laughed multiple times. And the punchline is really well executed. Pete Davidson is truly perfect for a role like this, an utterly unlikeable skeeze
I tried watching this, but could only last about 15 minutes

Frontera

Saw this exactly six years ago.

«A former Arizona sheriff's wife is killed while riding on their ranch property. It would appear a Mexican man illegally crossing into the US is at fault. As the former and the current sheriff search for answers, lives are changed forever.»

Decent movie, if a little straightforward.

All Quiet On the Western Front (2022)

Just a great job of portraying how horrific WWI was. The crossroads of modern and pre-20th century warfare.

I need to watch this. Visited the WWI museum in Kansas City this past weekend and it planted the seed.

It's very pandemic-y

Speaking of which, I saw Women Talking last night. I really wanted to like it (to prove Joe wrong about saying that no one on RM would like it) but I didn't like it. A bit tedious, I suppose. Unbelievable even as a broad allegory and too on-the-nose over and over again.

All of the in-barn scenes were also a weird color and kind of ugly. It was pretty in the fields, though

Chef

Pretty decent 2014 movie with Jon Favreau.

"A head chef quits his restaurant job and buys a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family."
