Re: HBO: The Last of Us
Just got around to watching Ep. 6 tonight. This is where it feels like the show has finally hit its stride. The new stuff and the directly-lifted-from-the-game stuff all felt seamlessly integrated. The scene in Ellie’s bedroom is carbon copy of the game and, unlike other such scenes earlier in the season, I was fully immersed and riveted.
And breezing through the university sequence was a good call — they hit everything they needed to without adding another zombie fight.

Completely agree. I also really liked how intimate/sudden the stabbing was. No big action set piece or anything. It just sort of clumsily happened.Ensign9 wrote:Just got around to watching Ep. 6 tonight. This is where it feels like the show has finally hit its stride. I used to have random panic attacks and general anxiety disorder. Once I got off nearly all meds (I just take a little prozac) the anxiety and attacks went away. It was hard, but once I stopped Klonopin that really helped.Mecca wrote:as someone who is addled by anxiety from PTSD, when you give me a clear objective and an actual fight or flight scenario, it almost acts like a grounding moment and I am able to focus my attention to the task at hand.spike wrote:Joel is exhausted and anxiety ridden, yet his steady hand can pick off clickers from distance with pinpoint accuracy. I used to raw dog anxiety and the issues would subside after rounds of therapy. Now I have an emergency script of the lowest dose of Xanax that I break in half if I ever have to take it and I can headshot zombies all day.Coach wrote:I used to have random panic attacks and general anxiety disorder. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Re: HBO: The Last of Us
That was solid but didn’t grab me like last week’s episode did. For those keeping score, this was a pretty close match to Part 1’s DLC story.
