Pretty decent 2014 movie with Jon Favreau.

"A head chef quits his restaurant job and buys a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family."

Yeah that movie was alright but the kid acting was bad.

Speaking of which, I saw Women Talking last night. I really wanted to like it (to prove Joe wrong about saying that no one on RM would like it) but I didn't like it. A bit tedious, I suppose. Unbelievable even as a broad allegory and too on-the-nose over and over again.

All of the in-barn scenes were also a weird color and kind of ugly. It was pretty in the fields, though

Hmm why’s that? I haven’t seen it yet but I loved 1917. I also love Battlefield 1 (WWI game). My engagement with WW1 media basically ends there but do I need to see this movie?

1917 had hero stuff. All Quiet… is just relentlessly brutal. Think the early scenes of 1917 when the two lads make their way through no man’s land, but like the whole movie. Score is spooky af too.

Are there any good movies or shows that cover the Weimar Republic after WWI leading up to WWII? I remember watching a young Hitler movie years ago, but it was shitty.

It’s the third version made, but probably the modern movie making techniques help. 1930 us extremely long ago, and very early in the history of sound movies, and the 1979 version, was a tv movie. The original is great though, and the second is worth seeing.

Are there any good movies or shows that cover the Weimar Republic after WWI leading up to WWII? I remember watching a young Hitler movie years ago, but it was shitty.

There are movies and documentaries that are more directly about stuff like Hitler and politics, but Cabaret is the best movie set in those times, and M is the best movie made then about current times.

I also look forward to seeing it. Of all things I spend money on, netflix is the biggest waste. Hardly ever watch it.
