Re: The Last of Us Part II
Just finished Part I for the second time. It was just as impactful as the first time (#giraffes) but what really stood out in stark contrast to my first go-round is that Joel is much less sympathetic.
My first time, I was mowing down those soldiers with the M-16 without a qualm on my way to the operating room. Tonight, I made liberal use of stealth and smoke bombs to get past them.
I remember feeling triumphant at rescuing Ellie from those “monstrous” doctors the first time. Now, I just feel sick about killing Abby’s dad and then Marlene.
What a game. It’ll be interesting to see if Part III can flip the narrative on its head again like Part II did.

Re: The Last of Us Part II
It’ll probably never happen but, if they don’t end up making III for a long time (or ever), I’d love to see another game with episodes that feature vignettes from the the HBO series (the Jakarta outbreak, the raid on Bill and Frank’s, etc.). And maybe stuff only alluded to in the game like Ish and the water treatment plant.

That's their goal. They said Part 2 was a tale about hate. Part 3 will be a tale about love. Naughty Dog has begun the initial story creation process. It'll be a long while.Ensign9 wrote:

They really need to announce more details about the Factions multiplayer game. If it looks like this and plays like Part Two, oh boy.Revelator wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:You guys were right, the Part One remake looks absolutely incredible.I did not regret my purchase. Re: The Last of Us Part II
I thought when the Part I remake was released, Druckman stated that we'd be hearing more about the multiplayer game this year. Not sure if that means it'll release this year. Kind of doubt it. I will say, playing through the remake also made me appreciate how significantly they improved combat options/mechanics/gameplay in Part II.Monkey_Driven wrote:They really need to announce more details about the Factions multiplayer game. Pearl Jam's annual Halloween shirt is a crossover with Naughty Dog featuring a clicker.

Re: The Last of Us Part II
Yeah MD's review was/still is incredibly well done; I still regret caving to the spoilers prior to the release back in 2020. I think I'm the only one on the internet right now who's actually excited for the PS5 Remaster coming in January, though I do hope a Part III is in the works. Part I and II are pretty much gold standards in my book on how to execute an exceptionally well done narrative with taut, gripping, and most importantly fun/addictive game play.
I could care less about Factions or any kind of online multiplayer component. I care even less for the TV show; think I'm one of the few who felt it was overrated, though it's still probably one of the best video game to show adaptations I've seen (that's not saying much given nearly all adaptations are horrendous).

I'm thrilled about the PS5 version. The survivor mode and lost levels are totally worth the $10 upgrade. I don't understand the complaints about it.

This was great, as expected, and Mr. Druckmann all but confirmed Part III is on the way. Exciting.

Re: The Last of Us Part II
Just finished a replay of part 2. Incredible.
However, like I did with Joel while replaying part 1, I’m struggling to find anything redeeming about Ellie while playing her half of the game. She’s a monster. Granted, she knows nothing about Abby or her friends, but going after her again in Santa Barbara was a point of no return for her soul, I think, even though she doesn’t end up killing Abby.
Give me a 20 years later part 3 featuring JJ and Lev. The sins we pass on to our children.

Re: The Last of Us Part II
I'm not sure what was upgraded but it looked and felt great.
You can also play alpha/beta versions of deleted levels. Roughly 15-20 minutes of playtime. Cool stuff (but nothing that really should've been left in).
Speaking of cut content, I'm wondering if Santa Barbara got trimmed at all. It feels truncated and lacking some of the world building inherent in everything prior but that could be a product of me not wanting the game to end.
I'm also apparently short one trading card and one state coin.
