Seems the leap is to assume it was left off Gigaton, but I think it still fits the theory that it might have been the single for an album that got shelved. Being advertised as a song from a forthcoming album that was released 2 years later doesn’t add up.

I'm convinced this was the case.

The press release for Can't Deny Me also confirms that they were working with producer Brendan O'Brien at the time for that forthcoming album. I believe Retrograde was pulled out of those sessions as well.
