I just learned the young actress who played the female model in Triangle of Sadness died suddenly of sepsis last year.

First time since I saw it in the cinema. Enjoyed it then.

Ad Astra. Some of the shots were genuinely stunning. Space hasn't looked that good since Sunshine (2007).
A few cool scenes (the opening radar tower, the buggy chase, the murderous space monkey), but it's ultimately a deeply stupid movie.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Rewatched Ran. Holy mother of God, what a movie. I usually call Throne of Blood my favorite Kurosawa but Ran makes me question that. It's so gorgeous.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Second time. I do enjoy Andrew Garfield both as an actor in general, and his role here. Think he’s the best of the three modern actors to play the role. Nothing exceptional about the movie, but it does provide a really good superhero story, plenty of action and entertainment.
After this I’ve got 50 movies left from 2014. 35 I’ve seen before, and 15 I’ve never seen.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Third time I think. I feel a bit jaded by all the Marvel movies I’ve seen the last decade, but decided I would still do the MCU while going through these years. This is one of the better ones. Should be a decent time. Will pause for Formula One later.

The Equalizer
Good action movie, with a top role by Denzel. This was a big positive surprise when I first saw it in 2019. Could probably have saved it a little longer in the 2014 run, but felt like a good way to end the weekend.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Really charming movie, with a good story. Think Coco must have been inspired by this.
