Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Losing the drive to keep up with every new thing sounds fine, relaxing even. But closing myself off completely from new art because I'm convinced it can't be as good as the stuff I already know and love... I don't want that. That sounds bad. I want nothing to do with it. I already know it's going to be dogshit. OH NO

It's less about new art, and more about specific makers of art (Hollywood or Disney+, etc.), which is increasingly incapable.

At a certain point giving them the benefit of the doubt is not the rational choice. It's the boomer choice. Just go watch some weird shit on YouTube or somewhere else. Or check back in a few years to see if they have taken their heads out of their asses yet.

I do feel that way with marvel and Star Wars crap, which is sad because I like the source material for both. Same with whatever post apocalyptic/zombie series is popular at any given time.
