I'm still not getting the humor. You can afford it and you have the time. Enjoy yourself. Is this impulsive behavior going to piss off your girlfriend or something?

i'm not really laughing laughing. it's just kind of absurd to be doing something like that.

it's my son's 15th birthday on sunday. he's a huge fan (this will be his 6th time seeing the national). we're going to fly out saturday morning, jump in a car, drive upstate, grab dinner, go to the show, stay at a hotel, drive back to laguardia on sunday morning, and then fly home. it'll be fun.

Your son has seen them more times than I have.

Take me with you.

the show was super fun, and i'm really glad that we went. everything went without a hitch (no flight delays, no bad experiences with weather, etc.).

the new songs sound really good, with the standout being Alien. I couldn't tell, but it sounded like there may have been an outro added to that they're known for. New Order T-Shirt is much more dynamic live, and the opening song (something poolside) is really slow tempo a al Nobody Else Will Be There, which bleeds right into the next song which reminded me a lot of Abel.

they filmed the entire show, which was the reason for them having this at the tiny place they had it at previewing the new material. crazy, but they went on at almost exactly 8 p.m., and were off stage by 9:38. it seemed short, but they never left the stage.

glad you had a good time. maybe we'll get some sort of film release out of it.

thanks. yes, we had a great time. i had never been to the hudson river valley, and so we stopped off at west point on the way up just to see the place. they spotted my 15 year old right away and the heavy recruitment started in earnest. my kid actually really liked the place. ugg.
