Hayley Williams appreciation thread

I enjoyed my first listen very much, specially on good this sounds. The band sounds really tight but also feels more rock and less shiny bright poppy.

Thick Skull is pretty cool.

at this point my only gripe is that the 3 "funky" tracks

are really close together in the first half; I feel like that "vibe" could be spread out a bit more

having said that I really like that there are essentially two 5 track eps here: ep 1 is "fun", upbeat and groovy, ep 2 is a bit deeper / rockier / more complex lyrically

it's a really good album that definitely respects what post-punk and new wave were and are; it's what Backspacer should've been

Crazy about the Backspacer reference, I was thinking somewhat similar. Specifically how Taylor's colors and textures would work well on the first four songs of Backspacer. Although I appreciate that Backspacer doesn't take itself seriously This is Why takes its self seriously.

I think Backspacer takes itself way too seriously for what it is

I suppose there are, but it doesn't take the weight off. In fact at times it adds to the weight in fact.

'Running Out of Time' feels like a slight step down as far as singles go. 'You First' would've been nice, or 'Figure 8'.

Great show, super high energy, good setlist , the new songs sound awesome…the band is in a very good place.
Haley was great; damn she was in great spirits and her voice is untouchable.

The crowd was super into it; and they seemed so very happy with it.
