Far from Men (Loin des hommes)
Very interesting movie set in French Colonial Algerie, starring Viggo Mortensen.
The narrative follows Daru, an Algerian-born French teacher, tasked with delivering Mohammad, an Algerian murder suspect, into the hands of French authorities as the Algerian War of Independence ignites.

This Is Where I Leave You
Loved this in 2019, look forward to seeing it again. It just started.
After this, 40 movies left from 2014, 25 I’ve seen before, and 15 I’ve never seen.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I agree.tragabigzanda wrote:It’s bottom tier Anderson. The whole story-within-story thing is exhausting to me. Lost 20 minutes and just focus on the main story.Anders wrote:Giving The Grand Budapest Hotel another chance nos. Third time seeing it, not been a big fan.

Re: What movies are you watching?
As a comedy, I don’t find it funny. My wife, who has not seen it before, seems to find it quite funny.
As a drama, it is hard to take it seriously. Even if I compare it to the sillier Coen movies.
The cinematograhy is highly loved, but does nothing for me.
Still, I do think I will rate it slightly higher than before. I’m up to it’s ok watching it, sometimes a third viewing can be the better than the ones before it . At least it’s well made, and has a somewhat interesting story.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Since it's Oscars Day, here are the 2015 winners (since I'm doing 2014 movies now). Seen a few of these already in the past weeks, but have got most left for the final movies. Especially look forward to seeing Birdman, Whiplash and Selma again. Also Wild and Leviathan for the first time. Strange that Mommy (2014)) wasn't nominated at all.

Y'all are crazy about GBH. It's easily the best West Anderson film and it's not even close.
