It’s great within its set pieces. All 7364836 of them. Which move from one to the next with little or no explanation but hey. Here’s a gag. Here’s another gag.
It’s a send up. A carry on Star Wars movie (you’ll have to look that up)
It’s a parody. And not even very good at that.
The saga deserved a better ending than this.

I think the only thing nice I can say about this is that technically, it looks like Star Wars. But everything else suuuuuuuuucks.

I mean it’s fun but it’s awful.
The Harry Potter town they meet zori and babu in is cool. I’d love to visit there

Yeah the whole thing is a very loud mess. Technically impressive and gorgeous to look at; but it’s a big headache.
BONE FUCKIN´ TOMAHAWK.

I appreciate your honesty here, dime. I'm just sad to lose numbers from this side of the fence. But I'll always love you regardless of your Rise of Skywalker takes.
And if you ever change your mind, I'll be waiting here with open arms to welcome you back.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
We’re allowed not like it. It can’t all be amazing. If everything is awesome all the time, nothing really is. I hated rogue one and last Jedi at first because they didn’t do what I expected or wanted. I came to love them because of what they are and were doing and it added hugely to Star Wars.
This one just doesn’t do that.
It’s parody. Look at the scene w hux telling them he’s the spy. It’s a pure send up. Almost SNL. That’s just one example.
Anyways I don’t wanna beat it over the head. I just don’t love this one.
There’s a lot to love in it. But as a whole, it’s a catastrophe.

You're exactly right that we are allowed not to like it. But we're also allowed to love it. And I do.dimejinky99 wrote:We’re allowed not like it. It can’t all be amazing. I mean, I still think it's less than the other two sequel trilogy films. And less than Rogue One. But there's still a ton there that I just adore. And it's maybe (for me) the most rewatchable of the Sequels. It really finds a great balance of all the Star Wars ingredients. It's heavy and dark but also pulpy and ridiculous. It has tremendous heart and fantastic visuals. I just enjoy the fuck out of it. Every messy frame. I throw it on a lot and never tire of it.

So four years ago us that hated TROS get shit on for hating it. Now dime comes around to disliking it and it’s all sunshine and lollipops and “we can have both good and bad” feelings for it
Got it.
Got it.

It's very impressive that after such a divisive film like The Last Jedi, they managed to make one that was even more controversial and widely derided

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
It's all about the level of discourse, my guy. I've never said people aren't allowed to hate it. I've never said there aren't a million different flavors of Star Wars. I've never said every Star Wars thing is for everyone.blueviper wrote:So four years ago us that hated TROS get shit on for hating it. Got it.
I also sure don't remember seeing people hating TROS getting hate for it. Seems like y'all were perfectly happy hating it and making memes about erasing it from canon while the rest of us just tried to like a thing without getting shit on. But like Qui-Gon said, your focus determines your reality. *shrugs*
To me, it's like and let like (or hate and let hate). I just don't appreciate "this is a piece of shit and you're dumb for liking it." That kind of thing is far too common these days. And while it's easy to ignore it, sometimes I think it's okay to stand up to it, too.
I like TROS. And I can articulate why. Dime did a good job articulating why he doesn't. Nothing wrong with any of that. The world keeps on turning, y'know.

I never said you were dumb for liking it, ep, just wrong.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Still think it’s funny that the same people that were like: «get out of our The Last Jedi thread with your negativity», never seem to stop whining about this one here.
