Just watched Batman Returns for the first time in a while. God, that movie's gorgeous, weird, and incredibly fun. I love everything about it.

Burton may be a one-trick pony, but that trick was absolutely perfect for a Batman movie.

He has at least three good variations of style - the beetlejuice/Edward scissorhands/batman mode, Ed wood, and Big Fish. Mars Attacks has a unique style from his other stuff as well, I just don’t think it’s very good.

I forgot about Big Fish and Ed Wood. He has a couple of tricks. Forgive me, Tim.

Batman Returns was the first Batman movie I watched in the theater. I was only 5, but I vividly remember seeing Catwoman lick Batman's mouth and how gross I thought that was

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Well having grown into a licentious and lecherous adult I think everything Michelle Pfeiffer does says and wears in that movie is fucking hot

I didn't hate it, but was very much disappointed. I've told myself to give it another go, but that was 27 years ago and I still haven't.

You should watch it again. It's way better than I remembered. And the colors and production design really pop in 4K.
