Paper straws - is the planet worth it?

Post by JuanHamm »

I say no. I'd rather a thousand turtles choke to death than ever have to use a paper straw again.

What do you think?

They seem okay.

Not crazy about McD’s going the sippy cup route though.

I can live without a straw period, though I usually use one. If paranoid about the top of the cup being clean enough why drink out of the glass/cup period as the liquid is also in close contact with said cup/glass.

What's funny to me is that the Starbucks I've been to switched to paper straws and also these sippy cup lids, which I'm pretty sure use much more plastic than the old lids.

Yeah the sippy cup lids seem much sturdier than the old plastic lids designed for straw use. Which I assume means more plastic.
