I can hear what people are hearing when they call it "island" music. I guess it's the steel guitar sound or whatever. But I really think it's just trying to be bright in contrast to the rest of the song.

In theory, I have no problem with that. Musically, the bridge is the one part of this song I haven't really made peace with yet, however.
Two of you addressed this but I can't quote both so... yeah, I can see your points. The reason it's still kick-ass for me is that the rhythm is crazy, the time-signature changes, which makes it similar to the Evacuation bridge, one of my favourite parts of any PJ song ever. That off-kilter rhythm counteracts the poppiness and makes it slightly more weird. So it's not so much bubblegum as tangy/sour sweets.

prl wrote:That bridge kinda ruins the song for me.. all the rest, verses and chorus, have a really nice groove (both instrumental and vocals) and suddenly from nowhere comes that bridge that makes me feel like I just landed in Hawaii or something.

Yea that was my opinion at first too but now i dont mind it all and can see how it fits the theme of the song.....Id call it a bi polar song

Why does he rhyme "son" with "line". Huh....? I love the whole song except that part in the first verse. The other verses rhyme so why not that one...?

It's a half-rhyme, but... yeah.

The shot of the lyrics page for this one confirms that he is saying "5th Symphony," but I could really make out the entire verse.

there's a kind of madness to it which fits the song. Like a brief pause where the pyschopath goes to his happy place to escape the father hovering over his shoulder. But it's a pretty dark circus of the damned kind of place.

Rival had elements of it. they're pushed further here then they were there.

I think this rivals Pilate as my favorite PJ bridge.

Rival has a demented circus kinda vibe, if they had done that here it would have been amazing.

That said yeah, the dudes taking a minute to breathe, before he loses it again. I think its supposed to represent mood swings.

Oh no, Pilate's bridge is superior.
But this is a better song still.

I really hope they've been rehearsing the crap out of this song for the tour.

The first line of the chorus is a shameless rip off of "Arms Aloft"

This track is awful, by the way. A hotchpotch of unfinished brainfart ideas juxtaposed together. It doesn't even flow or culminate into anything coherent.

It certainly gets my vote for soonest to be forgotten from this album - I'd be surprised to see it as a live staple. This album's Johnny Guitar.
