Its got a bit of a Native American vocal thing going on. Not sure what adjective would appropriately convey that.stip wrote:there are lots of adjectives i'd use to describe yellow moon I haven't really used to describe a pearl jam song before.

Someone mentioned "dignified" before - it fits too.

After just 1 listen I feel this might be the sincere and most genuine effort by the band on the record - I want it to be a live staple. I could even see it as a gig closer. It's nostaglically 80s, but in somewhat of a good way.

Re: Yellow Moon
I'm sorry - I don't mean to go on - but this song is so fucking good. The more I want to describe it the more I want to envelop my prose with purple ambrosia. If ever a song evoked a soundscape (a field of lightly undulating shimmering wheat crowned with a sky of gold lunar splendour) it's this song. What an absolute pleasure.
And I normally HATE luvvy-style wankery like the above but gods-dammit this song has reduced me to a simpering wreck. Amazing. 5 stars? This has all the stars in the sky.

I absolutely agree with you. I'm not sure how you feel about "Night Swimming" by R.E.M, but for me this song kind of evokes a similar vast expansive landscape atmosphere.Juvenal wrote:I'm sorry - I don't mean to go on - but this song is so fucking good. Re: Yellow Moon
It almost makes me nostalgic for when I was a kid and used to go on family holidays to France. We used to have "Night Swimming" playing on the stereo while we swam in the pool in the middle of the night. I wish I could've tried that with this songJuvenal wrote:Strat wrote:Juvenal wrote:Christ. The guitar solos, which I initially viewed as a buzzing irritant, are giving it colour now. There's hope for you, sir!stupidmop wrote:This conversation gives me extreme deja-vu.harmless wrote:I absolutely agree with you. Agreed. And there is a night swimming elegiac quality to this, but this song feels more like a farewell.
Should have closed the record blah blah blah

At this point I want to swap "Sirens" with something else later on (LTRP?) and move FD, or scrap it completely.stip wrote:Juvenal wrote:The guitar solos, which I initially viewed as a buzzing irritant, are giving it colour now. Re: Yellow Moon
Good tune, but too much 12 string?
Kinda gives it a bit too much of a soft landing. Maybe. Maybe they tried 6 and it didn't work? I at least hope they tried.

Future Days is feeling more and more like it should have been a mid album.

Re: Yellow Moon
Listen to that intro.
This song is a big hair, metal ballad. I really hate it.
I hope this changes but for now?
It's one of the poorest on the record
