I'm pretty sure this song will eventually be played at Morrison's.

It's funny. When S/T came out, I had to buy it from Asda. Backspacer wasn't carried by a single shop in my town, had to order it off the net.harmless wrote:Omegaprime, stop torturing yourself and burn the record.OmegaprimeVKM wrote:My goal in life is to never listen to this track all the way through. I like Yellow Moon, Swallowed Whole and Pendulum, but the rest is absolutely dismal.

The reason is because the UK doesn't give a shit about Pearl Jam. I could only find Binaural and Riot Act in one record store. This album is better than you're giving it credit for, by the way.OmegaprimeVKM wrote:It's funny. When S/T came out, I had to buy it from Asda. Yep. Still far more likely to hear Ten on the radio than anything else. It's sad really.harmless wrote:The reason is because the UK doesn't give a shit about Pearl Jam. I was there before. At the time there was a lot of positivity over MYM and then I walked in and stated my sincere disappointment at the band writing WWS #2.harmless wrote:I think most of that is over, you're just late to the party.OmegaprimeVKM wrote:Yep. It probably helps that I have a shit memory. Clean slate; I'm currently trying to just let people have their own opinions, even when they're wrong, as you were in your review.OmegaprimeVKM wrote:I was there before. Re: New Song: Future Days
This might be the worst song in their catalog. Even without the piano intro & outro it's still garbage and really kills the 2nd half of the record.

I get sad that people dismiss you as a simple "PJ apologist" when your retorts are that good.stip wrote:Well it's nice when you know your goals are attainableOmegaprimeVKM wrote:My goal in life is to never listen to this track all the way through. Just dreadful MOR drudgery

I don't understand how I can be a pearl jam apologist when I don't love so many of the sacred cows. Shit, I only rag on those albums for reverse hipster cred

Yup. You're part of a rare breed: those that believe the late-record hype. (Only joking, sort of.) I haven't totally jumped ship on Backspacer. I heard ATW earlier and still liked it, but in a very different way to LB.

Also, reading and talking about politics, inequality, corporate power, and alienation all day makes me less likely to get too judgmental about the business decisions of a band's fan club

I've heard that Thomas Edison may not have really invented the light bulb. So pearl jam are the only heroes I have left.harmless wrote:

Hold onto them like Eddie Vedder's songs hold onto the tennets of socialism.stip wrote:I've heard that Thomas Edison may not have really invented the light bulb. So pearl jam are the only heroes I have left.harmless wrote:
