There's plenty of music that I didn't fully appreciate initially yet got under my skin enough that I felt compelled to return again and again until everything fell into place. These songs aren't that. They're pretty straight-forward, y'know? For the most part, they're just not my thing (save My Father's Son).

I basically said this a few pages back and harmless attacked me for it. Watch out when you see that wheelchair comin'. He'll roll right over your ass.

Basically when I love the majority of a catalog (pj, rem, lanegan, etc) I stay with songs until I'm positive there is nothing there for me. There usually is. Not always, but usually

I'll return to both King Animal and Jeff's recent solo LP a lot more than I will this in the future.

How many listens?

I have no idea. A few?

I don't see how it matters.

Because I know I usually need a few listens to figure out if a song will interest me

I think there's a distinction between interesting music that demands and/or rewards multiple listens and music that's immediately dull and unremarkable on first listen.

The same for me. I was sad when i first heard Binaural and was sure it was the end of the road after hearing Riot Act the first time. They grew on me immensly over time. But it was years

Not as such, but it separates all the elements of the sound and puts different elements to the left or right ear. The sound is less "muddy", everything is better defined, the bass is bigger, and the sound is generally more rounded and full-bodied Vedder. It's just better all around.
