Star Wars celebration is this weekend. In London. England.

It’s almost like they plan this stuff out.

What a shock.
They def do a good job planning stuff like that and all the easter eggs, etc. I think the main grievance is putting more thought and effort into the dialog.

What is the plot of this series now?
What do you want?
He’s not bringing grogu back to his people anymore, meaning his home planet or is he?
It’s called the mandalorian and here we are he’s surrounded by reunited mandalorians
Lead by Bo Katan

Is this not doing what it is supposed to? Or just isn’t doing what we want?

Dime, it is ok to not love every single moment of everything Star Wars. The dialogue in the last few episodes was just bad. And given Bo's history with the Dark Saber, you would think even she wouldn't have wanted to obtain it this way. They always made such a big deal about how she didn't come across it the "right way" the first time. And jamming in Jack Black, Lizzo, and Lloyd all at the same time just seemed like "hey we have these celebrities that really want to be in Star Wars, let's just throw them in this Canto Bight-lite episode".

I don't have an issue w/ the plot. It's the dialog.

What people say doesn't make any sense. No one talks like that. I get that it's "simple words," but you can still have wit and topspin w/ that discourse (see the empire strikes back or original SW).

It came to the forefront again in this week’s season three premiere, as Mando does what Mando seemingly does best: wander from planet to planet hoping to have people spout exposition to him like he’s a video game protagonist picking up sidequests. But even beyond this familiar critique of the show’s narrative structure, something kept cropping up in each encounter... characters addressing each other by their full names, regardless of who they are. Din Djarin, Greef Karga, Pirate King Gorian Shard, Bo-Katan (although not Bo-Katan Kryze, admittedly), multiple times in the same conversation people will just spout a full name to each other—people who are at the very least acquainted with each other, or people who are supposedly meant to be old friends. The closest you get to a shade of familiarity is Karga’s welcoming cry of “Mando!” It doesn’t just feel unnatural, but like these names are being stated almost as branding—yearning to be entered on wiki entries, or adorned on merchandise, like they’re less actual people and more action figures.

The addressing wouldn’t be so jarring if not for its repetition, or if it was the only jarring thing about The Mandalorian’s dialogue. Rarely does it feel as if people in a scene are talking to each other, but more like at each other, relaying expository information as brusquely and barely as possible. These are good actors—look at what Pedro Pascal has been doing in the run up to this season on The Last of Us—but it’s inherent to the nature of the dialogue itself. It’s clipped and spartan, and any moments of warmth or familiarity come from little flourishes and offhand remarks—like the way Din exasperatedly tries to get Grogu to stop hugging the Anzellan droid engineer.

Season 3 has been a step down from season 2 which was flawless.

Book of Boba fett/Obi Wan/Andor are more entertaining and succinct than mando season 3 so far.

It felt like this episode was one of rangers of the new republic episodes re-written.

How good is Lizzo.

She has just been named an american ambassador. She has officially joined the fight for America to become carbon neutral by 2035.
Reportedly her first step as ambassador she has agreed to cut chili from her diet.

Jack Black and Lizzo were jarring; I didn’t see them as their characters at all and as a guy who used to have a Jack Black avatar here, I love JB.

This was very much a live action clone wars episode, but the droid chase through an upscale blade runner city was very meh. Was surprised to see it was directed by Bruce Dallas Howard because I’ve usually enjoyed the episodes she’s helmed.

Not at all Ruddo thereve been good few eps I didn’t like at all esp w him boba.
If it’s all awesome none of it is.
I was ready to give up on this one when jack black appeared but it quickly revealed itself as a clone wars episode so I just went with it.

As to the dialogue, it’s Star Wars. Nobody talks like this anywhere. Remember it was the original cast’s main complaint to Lucas. The dialogue is always gonna be goofy in some sense.

Didn’t expect that resolution to come now. Thought we’d see Bo back as leader in the finale. But now?

We’re gonna see her sitting on that mythosaur and truly unite all mandalorians. And how is she going to tame that huge big beast?

Grogu.

He’s gonna tame it.

Fight me.

Is it odd that Grogu didn't want to be trained as a Jedi, but likes doing Jedi things and continuing to use his skillz.

And that’s a huge possibility for what’s to come.
He indulges his every urge and uses the force just to get what he wants.
This ends up badly throughout history and it’s why the Jedi took force capable kids to train them. They ain’t gonna make him dark side over night but there’s nobody telling him no.
And he’s not even in his teens yet.
It won’t end well.

I’m hoping we get one more Grogu flashback scene.

See how he survives via Naboo

Turns out Din is Grogu's real dad.
