New PJ albums always tend to rank falsely high for me at first just because "OH MY GOD NEW PEARL JAM THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!!!!" then after a while I calm down and remember that Yield and Vs. will forever be champions. The fact that LB is the first time this hasn't happened tells me something.

I think "Yellow Moon" has a shot. It would have a better shot if the guitars were amped up more at the end, it was stretched out a bit and had the BOB keyboard shit buried in the mix or eliminated completely. It really is a great f*cking tune that I wish the rest of the album was more like. The album really still really falls apart after LB—more than any PJ album before it in my opinion (with the exception of YM of course).

Well, the trouble is, there isn't much to play with between 2.5 and 5. There's only like 2.5 points. So I think that to be more accurate, you'd have to use a potential of 10.

I try to stay away from actually ranking songs, but I get what you mean - I think of MYM as a good solid, if somewhat poppy, punk like song - not quite punk, (the chorus kind of brings it down for me) and not quite pop - so it's a fair representation of a good effort with a somewhat stunted follow-through.

wow, I haven't posted that much about a pearl jam song (being serious) in like 8 years.

I agree. I don't hate SOLAT but it's never done much for me. The lyrics are vague and the band sounds tired playing it now. Like Evenflow it's sort of perfunctory at this point. The opening salvo of Binaural is really strong.

I agree. I don't hate SOLAT but it's never done much for me. The lyrics are vague and the band sounds tired playing it now. Like Evenflow it's sort of perfunctory at this point. The opening salvo of Binaural is really strong.
