I started re-reading the books last month because I started to get the feeling that 2025 was going to be the year!
These last few blog posts have proved to me how wrong I was.

It seems like every week, GRRM posts about how depressed he is and makes it seem like the books will never be finished. Oh well!Simple Torture wrote:I started re-reading the books last month because I started to get the feeling that 2025 was going to be the year!

I’m chugging through Storm of Swords now, and when I sat down to read last night I told myself I’d read until 10:30. At 10:33 I finished the last chapter before the Red Wedding. Somehow convinced myself to stick to the plan and put the book down, but I basically picked it up first thing this morning and read three chapters. It surprised me this time how short the chapter is. But there it is.

I didn’t believe the chapter when I read it. I reread it twice and it was roughly after midnight; went into work very depressed the next morningSimple Torture wrote:It seems like every week, GRRM posts about how depressed he is and makes it seem like the books will never be finished. I read it after the show had reached that point. The episode had me shooketh for days, though.

Once again, he won't ever finish the books. The story has been told.Simple Torture wrote:I started re-reading the books last month because I started to get the feeling that 2025 was going to be the year!

I'm positive he wouldn't. Know how I know?Mecca wrote:I’m pretty sure he might disagree with thatepilogue wrote:Once again, he won't ever finish the books. HE'S NOT WRITING THE BOOKS
It's a writer/storyteller thing. He's talked about it. King talks about it. I'm not sure how many times I have to talk about it.
It ain't happening, team. It's over. The story is out there. It's done.

Just based on his actions/posts lately I think he’s concerned about his legacy, which ultimately will be the HBO shows. He’s reportedly overly-involved with Dunk n Egg’s show to try and prevent his stories being diluted like season 2 of HotD. Which brings me to my point, which is that I think he would disagree that HIS story was told.epilogue wrote:I'm positive he wouldn't. I’ve resigned myself to him not finishing and being forced to read an unfinished copy that’s arranged after he passes

I know this is macabre to talk about, but I’m sure there are enough drafts, notes, outlines, etc of WoW that a posthumous edition probably wouldn’t be that bad. A Dream of Spring, though, we’re probably fucked.Mecca wrote:Just based on his actions/posts lately I think he’s concerned about his legacy, which ultimately will be the HBO shows. That’s where my mind has been. And it’s not really wishful thinking because I don’t feel like I’ll be devastated if we never get anythingSimple Torture wrote:I know this is macabre to talk about, but I’m sure there are enough drafts, notes, outlines, etc of WoW that a posthumous edition probably wouldn’t be that bad. Are the Sansa chapters as boring as I remember them being?

Re: A Song Of Ice and Fire (Spoilers for all Published Books
Yeah those Sansa chapters in AFFC are…something. It’s hard because so much time passes between the Vale chapters in AGOT and AFFC that it’s easy to lose the thread of the houses and the relationships etc. it’s certainly intentional, it has a dreamish/nightmare-ish quality because it’s so physically separated from everything else in the book, and I think so much of that is intentional, but there are so many other chapters that I prefer.
