I'm going with Total Recall tonight. This is one of my all time favorite movies.
I've never seen Basic Instinct, so I think I'll throw that one on the list too.

describe albini and describe bourdain.epilogue wrote:yesMalloy wrote:am i wrong to collapse albini and bourdain into the same dude
i see two highly cynical, highly independent, smart dudes w lots of niche success which they built into commercial success, w fairly self-contradictory political instincts, a penchant for cruelty, to themselves and others, an inability to suffer fools, people who are obsessed w process.

my instinct is that you like bourdain and dislike the kinds of people who dislike albini. but i gotta say, i dont see much distance between any of them.Malloy wrote:describe albini and describe bourdain.epilogue wrote:yesMalloy wrote:am i wrong to collapse albini and bourdain into the same dude

Re: What movies are you watching?
Anthony Michael Bourdain; June 25, 1956 – June 8, 2018) was an American celebrity chef, author, and travel documentarian who starred in programs focusing on the exploration of international culture, cuisine, and the human condition. Bourdain was a 1978 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and a veteran of many professional kitchens during his career, which included several years spent as an executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in Manhattan. He first became known for his bestselling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (2000).
Bourdain's first food and world-travel television show A Cook's Tour ran for 35 episodes on the Food Network in 2002 and 2003. In 2005, he began hosting the Travel Channel's culinary and cultural adventure programs Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (2005–2012) and The Layover (2011–2013). In 2013, he began a three-season run as a judge on The Taste and consequently switched his travelogue programming to CNN to host Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Although best known for his culinary writings and television presentations, along with several books on food and cooking and travel adventures, Bourdain also wrote both fiction and historical nonfiction. On June 8, 2018, Bourdain died while on location in France, filming for Parts Unknown, of an apparent suicide by hanging.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Steve Albini; born July 22, 1962, is an American musician, record producer, audio engineer and music journalist. He was a member of Big Black, Rapeman and Flour, and is a member of Shellac. He is the founder, owner and principal engineer of Electrical Audio, a recording studio complex in Chicago. In 2018, Albini estimated that he had worked on several thousand albums over his career. He has worked with acts such as Nirvana, Pixies, the Breeders, PJ Harvey, and former Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
Albini is also known for his outspoken views on the music industry, having stated repeatedly that it financially exploits artists and homogenizes their sound. Nearly alone among well-known producers and musicians, Albini refuses to take ongoing royalties from other bands recording in his studio, feeling that a producer's job is to record the music to the band's desires, and that paying producers as if they had contributed artistically to an album is unethical.
