Huh, the city store said they're not getting it until tomorrow.
when backspacer came out, the jb hifi in hobart didn't have it so i had to go back later in the day. i was kind of surprised they not only had lightning bolt at 12 this afternoon, but also a sign out the front saying they had it and a few display racks up. sounding delicsh on the home stereo.
The girl told me they were expecting it today but nothing arrived.

Bummer.
How do you feel when you're at the counter and you say to the girl "hey, when is the new Pearl Jam record coming in?"

I treat buying current day Pearl Jam records in store like when you buy condoms. I'll try hide it between say a Miles Davis cd and a Stooges cd and hope the sales girl doesn't ask for a price check over the PA.

Heh. I was in my local CD shop yesterday and asked the 2 'children' working there if the new PEARL JAM album was in yet, and I'm ashamed to admit that I realised I definitely felt a tad self-conscious. They were cool though, at least they didn't say something like "No it's not, but feel free to check out our "Dad Rock" stand over by the Washed-up Has Been Bargain Bin.

I'm off there again now to see if it's in yet. I wanna listen to a clean copy through the good headphones with a beer and a bit of a buzz.

God I love Fridays.

Hope it all goes to plan Varis.

I looked today but wasn't in in Newcastle. I guess I'll wait for my 10C copy as a Xmas present.

Cheers. Wasn't there, but apparently *should* be arriving today. The owner is a friend and said he'd text me as soon as it's in. He said that he had to order a set minimum number of copies to "guarantee" it arrived today but that apparently "Sony suck" and he wasn't really sure if it would get here or not.

I still love Fridays though. Cutting loose early and taking the kids quad biking regardless of what happens. I love the smell of 2 stroke in the arvo's.

I had a little trouble getting it this morning. No stores had it in stock at all, until Sanity received their delivery at about 11am. All stores either flat out said nope, or said it was in the truck and could turn up anytime.

As above, I also felt a little self concious asking. I felt like an eager old fart that was all excited that his dad-rock band just released a new album. But the staff were fine about it.

The staffmember at Sanity commented that perhaps it was part of the marketing plow to not have the stock in-store straight away, in order to create a "buzz". She also said it was quite interesting they had a digi-pak booklet style cover as the initial release, rather than a jewel case first and then have the "special edition" digi-pak later.

I felt like a fan-boy hipster when I pointed out that the last 7 albums were all released in similar packaging.

I had the same problem. Nothing in stores until Tuesday. The joys of living in a regional area!

I would've been like "Look, I don't care what the packaging looks like. I just want to buy this bullshit CD my dad sent me here to get so I can go home and get back to working on my King of Queens cosplay outfits."

Unless she was hot. Then I would've been like "Oh my God, that IS quite interesting!"
