Finished some hectic days and The Mandalorian now. Finally ready to start on the final 50 movies from 2015, including 40 I’ve never seen before. First up is:

Another enjoyable historical epic from Netflix (the other being The King) I don't usually bother with Netflix movies but they were both pretty dang good.
I remember liking that one.

I do feel the Kubrick connection in AI, but it’s almost a negative, since it would have been much better as a Kubrick movie.

So general consensus is don't bother?

Maybe I'll finally watch Bram Stoker's Dracula.

If you like Minority Report you'd probably like AI. I just find Spielberg's style off putting. If you put the style aside and absorb the film's ideas, it's a good experience. If you imagine it done by Kubrick, it's even better.

Do you imagine every movie as if Kubrick did it?

I think Minority Report is an excellent sci-fi action movie with Tom Cruise, and there are some futuristic similarities, but otherwise quite different movies.

Very different thematically, but similar visually.

Don’t agree with that. It’s a bit boring, too sentimental, feels dated. The beginning is better than the ending.

Maggie

«A teenage girl in the Midwest becomes infected by an outbreak of a disease that slowly turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies. During her transformation, her loving father stays by her side.»

A rare Arnold movie that I haven’t seen.

I don't think there's a single Arnie movie after the mid 90s that's worth seeing.
