i liked In Lieu Of Failure, but it also felt like Billy trying hard to sound like 1996. He even talks a bit of that in the podcast.

Havent listened to that single yet....but im enjoying the podcast a lot, specially when he talks about older songs. Really cool even if Billy is always so fucking dense.

Sitting on the plane getting ready for take-off. Just had the exit row speech and it was the worst, most monotone delivery I'd ever heard. No way did anyone understand what that stewardess said. Hope we don't crash as looking at my fellow exit rowers I fear we would be fucked!

Pressed play on track 1 of Pisces Iscariot. Let's see where this takes me.

Loving Billy talking about GLOW in the podcast and wow, did they played a remixed version of it? sounds awesome.

Weird flight, but that's a story for another thread.

I already mentioned my earlier runs through Gish (great) and Siamese Dream (fucking excellent) and I did indeed listen through Pisces Iscariot and MCatIS on my travels.

Pisces Iscariot is a bit of a beast actually. I didn't realise it wasn't an actual studio album until writing this post. Makes sense though as the production is a bit up and down. Anyways, enjoyed.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness though. Wow. I have def listened through this before, enough that I have strong feelings that the opening tracks "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" into "Tonight, Tonight" simply must be played together as one, always. And Jimmy Chamberlain is a fucking beast. So good.

Im listening to ATUM III now... Pfft, what a drag. Act I and act II were already bland and boring. Some songs are barely listenable. Lyrics are absolutely terrible. There are only a handfull of nice riffs here. Three acts. 33 songs. None of which adds anything worthwhile to their catalog.

If you're expecting a riff-fest, you're gonna have a bad time. That hasn't been where Billy's at for years. Most of the time it's about aping his 80's heroes these days.

been listening to the podcast a lot, and Billy is hinting about a new album already in the vein of Siamese Dream.

I do want to listen more carefully to Cyr and Autm, now thats been released in full. I think i can make a very strong 10 songs list from Atum.

I really like Act 3. Tapers off a little towards the end, but there are some big hitters on here.

"Cenotaph" is probably my fav. song of theirs since Machina. It's absolutely stunning. God damn.

That's a good one. I also love "Anno Satana", "Schaudenfreud", "Save Your Tears", "Haunted" and "The Hidden Sun". There are a bunch of killer melodies on Cyr. Great headphones listen.

I'd probably like some of this Atum stuff if someone besides Corgan was singing. He's just awful.

Or just delete the vocals altogether.

Been into a huge SP moment. Act III and Cyr are the ones I’m paying attention to but I’m also listening to Adore again. Damn what a beauty. I remember when I got it in 98, my first pumpkin cd.

Also been listening to a podcast called smashing podkast; the zeitgeist and teargarden episodes were they dive deep into those eras.

So glad you came back around on Cyr. There's the odd track that still hasn't clicked for me, like "Confessions.." and "Dulcet", but most of it has grown on me massively.

ATUM has been kicking my ass. It's a lot to take in, but I'm so impressed with it overall.

Adore is obviously a masterpiece. I was back hooked on "Daphne Descends" just the other day. Unreal song.

So aparently someone had the ATUM files about 6 months before it got released - Billy paid out a ransom

I'm surprised he didn't send one of his wrestlers to powerbomb the punk.

i just listened to DD yesterday and damn is so good. So ethereal almost dreamy.

This podcast is called Smashing Pumpkast, and they dive into all the different eras of the band, and its pretty cool. Im going trough those singles after Zeitgeist like FOL, GLOW, Superchrist and some other stuff i didnt know like a leaked song called Strenght In Numbers that feels like a lost song from 1996.

You should definitely go. They've been sounding great, and I'm pretty sure Interpol still rip live, too.
