I agree with all of this, but what makes no sense is that the majority of reviews I've read call out this song as a highlight. What are we missing?stip wrote:Also, this is a pretty great little record. Still wish fd wasn't on it though

Re: New Song: Future Days
It sounds beautiful and atmospheric on first listen, for those that aren't put off by sentimental schmaltz. It's hard to argue that it doesn't sound very pretty. The fact that it sounds too pretty isn't something most reviewers are worried about. Kings of Leon stuff has the same kind of cheese a lot of the time, but reviewers rarely comment on it.Dugg wrote:I agree with all of this, but what makes no sense is that the majority of reviews I've read call out this song as a highlight. I'm enjoying future days a lot more than Yellow moon.

I may be totally stupid but a few people have mentioned this, and apart from the extreme distaste for the song, what's wrong with this?broken iris wrote:My wife said she heard and Eddie song during f**King Grey's Anatomy last night. Turns out it was this one.

It's a marmite song, for sure.

Re: New Song: Future Days
Listening to it in a vaccum i guess its not that bad but Yellow Moon is pretty damn good and does a pretty damn good job of closing the album on its own.

I'm still thinking of the death, suicide / afterlife pairing, so they go together for me. But musically yeah, I can see Yellow Moon being the big finale.

Re: New Song: Future Days
I do like that conceptual pairing. Future Days just needs to have a little of the Pendulum or parting ways treatment (really moody and encompassing music) for it to successfully follow up Yellow Moonharmless wrote:I'm still thinking of the death, suicide / afterlife pairing, so they go together for me. The bridge should have the thundering and droning guitars of the Parting Ways chorus.

Re: New Song: Future Days
It's a terrible, bottom of the barrel melodrama that no one with artistic pride should associate themselves with. In someways fitting for Future Days.harmless wrote:I may be totally stupid but a few people have mentioned this, and apart from the extreme distaste for the song, what's wrong with this?broken iris wrote:My wife said she heard and Eddie song during f**King Grey's Anatomy last night.
